Silly Things You've Seen On The OU Ladder!

Random Shit volume 16: Chatot 4 Ubers Edition
-Cower in fear of the parrot: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-82590194
-A Noivern that roosted and then died to an EQ.
-Gliscor outspeeding Mega Gardevoir. No scarf, post mega evolution.
-Eject Button Meowstic.
-A drowsy Sylveon found out the hard way that Heal Bell doesn't stop you from falling asleep.
-Another Wailord, this one with Rocky Helmet.
-A team with Weezing and Electrode. Insert ball joke here. Also, the Electrode had Electro Ball, which may seem legit, except it used it against a Latios.
-Same guy had a Crunch Mawile. Of course, if you get BP'ed +6 speed, as this one did, you probably won't be needing Sucker Punch.
-Same Chatot guy as above, different opponent, same result: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-82589801
-Flamethrower Krookodile. Didn't even OHKO Ferrothorn. God damn it, it's another Zoroark.
-Dual Screens Malamar.
-Torrent Greninja with Water Shuriken, Surf, and a King's Rock.
-Zangoose without a Toxic Orb.
-Aqua Jet Empoleon.
-Technitop, which I never knew people still used.
-Lapras with Ancient Power.
-Heliolisk with Parabolic Charge and a Shell Bell. Well, that's one way to not be a glass cannon.
-Quick Claw Greninja.
-Pangoro with Karate Chop, Work Up, and Strength.
-Infiltrator Malamar. Yeah, I know it's a good ability, but Contrary is its niche. It also had Psybeam and a Dread Plate.

Hey, I've used Aqua Jet Empoleon before. The old 4th gen Swords Dance set is a little better than you think. :)

I'm a bit interested in the Heliolisk. How long did it survive?

I love the Chatot guy. Chatot is actually pretty good in Winter's Wont. :)

Was that Mega Gardevoir on the same team as a Baton Pass Scolipede? If so, that's why. 252 HP/252 Sp. Atk Modest Mega Gardevoir is what I personally use on my team, in conjunction with an Iron Defence/BP/Sub/Megahorn Scolipede, 248 HP, 8 Sp. Def, 252 Speed, Careful nature. Tanks physical attacks disturbingly well thanks to Iron Defence, (Life Orb Mamoswine anybody?) and can take a few hits from more defensively-minded Special attackers.

And Baton Passing to Mawile is a perfectly legitimate tactic!

Also, Aqua Jet is a perfectly valid move if you really don't want to die from speedy Focus Sash users. Saw a battle in which someone lost precisely because their opponent outsped with a Focus Sash and their Empoleon didn't carry Aqua Jet.

On another note, apparently Kecleon is perfectly viable in OU Monotype: http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/oumonotype-82593104

Edit: Dynamic Punch Machamp without No Guard: http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/customgame-82594138

Edit 2: http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/oumonotype-82196293
>Trying to Sub when the opponent deals almost 50% with Extremespeed.
>Using Rapidash to Baton Pass a Speed buff, and ONLY a Speed buff, instead of Eviolite Combusken, who can pass Speed Boosts and Substitutes without having to use a Speed-buffing move.
>Forfeiting when your opponent predicts an obvious play.

This is from a good friend of mine, so I feel kinda bad about this, but at the same time that is just REALLY bad playing.

OH GOD THIS BATTLE, JUST WATCH (i was TRUE STREAGTH btw, playing with a team specifically made to scout for bad ladder players and their movesets and items)

my fav from that battle was when he decided to dragon rush a gourgeist with his zard despite having fire and flying moves to use (as i saw when i ditto'd it), also his apparent obsession with mega stones

the hera's full set was CC/brick break/EQ/body slam btw (so it's half legit and half silly, wtf)

edit: grab a soda and some popcorn before watching this one, it's gonna take a while: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-82677149

more edit: grab another soda and make more popcorn, because this one takes a similarly long amount of time: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-82679052

even more edit: look at the images below (all from the same battle)

Screen Shot 2014-01-29 at 6.43.34 PM.png (flash cannon is really only good for other xerneas or fairy arceus, but xerneas has far better coverage moves. also this xern was running leftovers and geomancy on the same set, which should explain itself)

Screen Shot 2014-01-29 at 6.44.43 PM.png

Screen Shot 2014-01-29 at 6.47.58 PM.png (this scizor was a mega, so no excuse for acrobatics)

ok i think i'm done posting edits for the night lol

That Heracross moveset is actually 3/4s silly, in that for one, Mega Heracross probably shouldn't be using Close Combat as it's naturally quite defensive, and two, Mega Heracross does not need both Close Combat and Earthquake on the same moveset anyway, seeing as Pin Missile, Rock Blast, and Bullet Seed are basically mandatory on Mega Heracross.

Wrong, Wrong, and Wrong again. CC is mega-cross's most damaging fighting move, outdamaging Arm Thrust by 30 BP. Also, a set of CC / EQ / Rock Blast gets perfect coverage, without need for Pin Missile or Bullet Seed (they can be run for the 4th move over SD or sub if you want). I've ran this before in UU before it was banned; so I know what I'm talking about :P

I don't think missing Blizzard once can really be considered "hax"
And a crit.
IDK, I'm probably too nice. :/
I didn't post it for the minor hax, though.

So many attempt to break Sleep Clause that it really can't be considered "silly" anymore.
Hm? Thought it was once- then it died.
Unless a Calm Mind Smeargle (really?) is trying to get past Sleep Clause.

I may now create an alt and use just this.
Will post the n00b sets I find.

It beat the Lapras I mentioned. The Lapras player forfeited immediately after.

Nope. No boosts to either party.

The more you know, I guess. I was under the impression that CC is a bad idea, on the basis of it nuking Heracross's defences, and so instead you run EQ/Rock Blast/Pin Missile, with the last slot being any one of Bullet Seed, Substitute, or Swords Dance. This also gets you perfect coverage without doing nasty things to Heracross's Def and Sp. Def, and he still gets a STAB move.

Gliscor is actually deceptively fast. I personnaly give it enough speed EVs to ouspeed and taunt Smeargle.

That Houndoom didn't have Flash Fire. I didn't know non-Flash Fire Houndoom even existed.
Edit : It has Early Bird or Unnerve. Neither of which are even acceptable, unless you're facing Sitrus Berry Trevenant which Houndoom anihilates anyway.

Nice team! I might start doing the same thing instead of just replying to everyone. Unfortunately, ladder-diving is impossible due to the new system capping at 1000.

Have you thought about using Transform Mew?

Sorry for the double post, but I just did my first match with my new TransFrisk team. I did decently, considering what I had and what I was up against :
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-82781332
Also STABless Kyogre and Shadow Claw Groudon.
(I guess that last one makes sense for Giratina, but Dragon Tail seems better)

Edit : lol I actually won the next one. I need to stop getting caught up in the battle and remember to lose.

The extent to which each player absolutely cannot deal with each other's nonsense sets is amazing. It's like watching two kids play chess while making up their own rules as they go along.
Agilijask. Because if there's one stat Ninjask needs manual boosting, it's Speed.
Although I'm sure Smeargle would've swept the rest of the team if it hadn't missed. That strategy is so good.

Why have Moonblast when you could have Dazzling Gleam? And why have only one when you could have both?

Charizard. No, not Mega-Charizard. Just regular Charizard. Also Electabuzz.

I won this one too. Not sure how, but I did.
I never intended to win any matches at all, and yet, somehow, I do.

I swear, I've only had about 6 matches, 4 of which I've posted, 2 of which I won. Ubers are ripe with stupid.

Speaking of Sap Sipper Azumarill, I once spectated a battle featuring Belly Drum Sap Sipper Azumarill. It was actually really funny. It's kind of amuzing because in a way, it's the perfect counter to the standard counter-Azumarill tactics. Admittedly, if the opponent automatically knew it was Sap Sipper, they'd take it down easily. But they don't, and so they don't switch in anything that can tank its hits because those things wouldn't be able to tank hits from standard Huge Power Azumarill. Plus, free opportunities for Belly Drum thanks to the Grass/Spore immunity.

Oh Arceus, that Smeargle set is beautiful.

That said, you know Ghost-types are immune to trapping, right? And that Shadow Tag makes you immune to others' Shadow Tag anyway? So you didn't have to sack your Ditto.

The worst thing that can happen to me is letting something like Xerneas setup over me and sweep, making me unable to see the rest of the team. So my Topsy-Turvy Smeargle basically acts as an escape button. The reason I don't have Roar is because indirect phazing is better than direct phazing since it enables me to double-switch and activate Frisk/Imposter.

Yeah, I've learned not to do that anymore. Ditto is always invaluable to my team. Not to win, of course, but to discover the opposing Pokemon's stupid moveset. Yet, I somehow often win anyway...

Resto Chesto Mix Kyogre with Water Spout, Body Slam, Waterfall, and Rest.
Also Zekrom with Slash.
Also Petaya Berry Lugia.
Also, I won this one too.

I've fought against a Belly Drum Sap Sipper Azumarill in Wifi Doubles before. It surprised me at first, but it didn't do much afterwards thanks to Belly Drum's HP drop.

Actually, I think I can sorta see what some of them are trying to do. None of them even remotely resemble good sets or good players, but I think their silliness is exacerbated by the opposing player's silliness. (Of course, there's still no excuse for trying to Frenzy Plant something that just absorbed your Leaf Blade with Sap Sipper.)
Sometimes, silliness works simply because the opponent has no idea they should be expecting it. Examples: Assault Vest Victini, physically defensive Stored Power Espeon, 248 HP/8 Sp. Def/252 Spd Careful Iron Defence SubPass Scolipede.

I've fought against a Belly Drum Sap Sipper Azumarill in Wifi Doubles before. It surprised me at first, but it didn't do much afterwards thanks to Belly Drum's HP drop.
Was it at least holding a Sitrus Berry? I doubt it would do all that much in Doubles anyway, because it isn't particularly likely to force a switch with Sap Sipper when there are two opposing Pokemon.

it probably didnt. When you transform, you dont copy iv's, and the default hidden power (for perfect ivs) is dark.

Ive seen multiple scarf deoxys-d, without trick.
A quick attack, flame body talonflame because apparently 'gale wing is broken, only noobies use it' (was a quote, dont have a replay)
Once my mandibuzz walled smy opponents whole team, he accused me of 'counter-teaming' XD
Also, apparently getting confusing with dynamic punch is hax

Of course. I might want to keep that in mind. Still, that doesn't excuse Dark Pluse Gengar. Or what happened on turn 35.

Double-Edge Protect Regular Houndoom and Aeral Ace Hitmontop. Besides that, probably the most legit match I've ever had in Ubers (although I did get haxed really badly). And it only had one actual Uber Pokemon.

I've just reached 1100 points with my joke, not-supposed-to-win team. Besides Mew, arguably nothing on it is broken even in RU. And yet, here I am, climbing the Ubers ladder with it.
